Losing $115,000 with an Amazon Affiliate Site – Niche Site Case Study (Project Go White Hat)

Losing 5,000 with an Amazon Affiliate Site – Niche Site Case Study (Project Go White Hat)
In this video I tell the story on how I lost over 0K from my Amazon Affiliate niche site.

Now, I know what you are probably thinking. How could that happen, that is A LOT of money. And typically I make videos about how I MAKE money online, not lose it.

However I think it’s important to explain how I recovered from this sort of event that happened using things like risk management, and making tough decisions.

Here is the blog series of the story:

I’m Doug and I’m the founder of Niche Site Project: https://nichesiteproject.com/

There were several things that caused this chain of events to go down – and I ended up losing a big chuck of change.

It does sting a little bit I’m not gonna lie.

The whole project was around Grey Hat Links which if you are following my series Project Go White Hat then you know my journey on this.

We wanted to replace the bad links that we had into good links that Google does like. And that was pretty much the whole plan.

But then Amazon changed the structure of the amazon affiliate program. Once this happened, our revenue went down about 35%, OVERNIGHT.

Uh oh, not good.

But there are certain ways that I used to RECOVER from this blow, and if you experience this I know you can too.

Watch my video to see how I responded to this, and what I did to recuperate from this situation.

Here’s some more info on the site:
I sold the amazon affiliate niche site for 5,000. Some people call these authority sites but either way, these are affiliate marketing sites with product reviews.

Here are the critical stats to give you an idea about what this project is all about and why you should care:

About 45 pages or posts
— Ranking well in Google for some “buyer’s keywords”
–The majority of the traffic goes to one page, and when looking further reveals that Pareto’s Law is in effect. That’s the 80/20 rule. So 80% of the traffic goes to about 7 pages out of about 40 total pages.
–This site making ,000 per month only has 45 pages. Proof that you don’t have to have a huge site to make five figures a month on an Amazon Niche Site.

We began by setting the goal to convert the grey hat links we had into white hat links by finding the Keyword Golden Ratio, insert guest post links, and a few other things we focused on to make our site attractive to sell.

“Go White Hat” is Born
I had an idea to solve that problem – Go White Hat*. I have an outreach team that can help and specific skills in executing long-term, complicated projects. White Hat and Gray Hat refer to the link building and other strategies used to rank a site in Google search results.

White Hat: Strategies that don’t violate the Google Webmaster Terms of Service.
Gray Hat: Strategies that violate the Google Webmaster Terms of Service.
In simple terms, the goal is to get rid of the Gray Hat links and replace them with White Hat links.
